This sun-dappled courser gallops on lightbeams with carefree abandon.
- This mount is available to all eligible characters on your account.
- Level 10
- Apprentice Riding (ground)
- Expert Riding (flying)
Notes:Note: a player who follows the instructions below should be guaranteed to receive the Sundancer mount. It has been reported that other players who have obtained the same buffs and participate in the battle are also guaranteed to receive the mount, but we haven't confirmed that.
To obtain Sundancer you first need to obtain a Skystrider Glider (if you use other gliding methods you won't be eligible for the mount!). The blueprints for crafting these are earned by members of the Kyrian Covenant who have upgraded their Path of Ascension feature to rank 3 and defeated Kalisthene on Wisdom (3rd level) difficulty. Other players can buy them from the Auction House. You'll also need some friends to help defeat Sundancer, unless you're very well geared. If your friends want to be eligible to receive the mount they'll also need a Skystrider Glider.
Proceed to the far south-eastern corner of Bastion (~ 60, 94). If Sundancer is currently available you'll see it slowly path north and south through the sky off the east side of the cliffs. If it's not up you may need to wait up to an hour or so for it to respawn. When you're ready, click on the Ancient Memorial, which is located close to the southermost point. It will grant you the buff Sunrider's Blessing. Helper players who wish to be eligible for the mount should also click on the memorial.
You (or another player, but just one player) should then proceed north to the higher cliffs, where they'll be a little higher than Sundancer when it flies by. Wait for Sundancer to be pathing north, then a bit before it reaches you leap out and activate the Skystrider Glider. Quickly glide to the steed and click on it to mount it. At this point, a Soothe button will appear in the middle of your screen and you should start spamming it to calm Sundancer. In between soothes, you can also activate any damage mitigation or heal over time spells you have, as you'll be receiving some damage (though not extreme) as you ride. After a short while Sundancer will calm and head to land, on the southernmost section of terrain, around 60, 94.
When you're ready to fight you can speak to Sundancer to challenge it to combat, but note that you'll have less than 5 minutes before your invisible Skystrider Glider buff wears off so you'll need to proceed quickly. Beforehand, helper players should activate their gliders (and ensure they've clicked on Ancient Memorial) to make them eligible for the mount. Combat with Sundancer can be hard unless you're well geared, but not too difficult with help. After defeating Sundancer in challenge combat you should receive the mount!
