World of Warcraft Patch 3.0 is launching today for the US realms, and I believe tomorrow for the EU realms. So my time is up — I gotta get updated!
There are a lot of neat new mount-related things in Patch 3.0. The biggest is probably the new mount UI, which we had talked about previously a little bit. I want to get a short article written up on that, but regardless you are going to see a lot of people asking where their mounts went for the new few weeks. *grin*
We will also be seeing some new mounts with this patch! The most exciting (to me): the Albino Drake, a reward for the Leading the Cavalry achievement of collecting 50 mounts. We’ll also doubtless see some lucky BlizzCon attendees with their BlizzCon bear mounts.
Unfortunately we are also saying goodbye to the chance to get the Amani War Bear from Zul’Aman. If you have one you get to keep it, but if you don’t have one yet I am afraid you’re out of luck.
Now I’m going to ask for your help. I’ve been behind on updating this site, so I need to get that fixed ASAP. In addition to the Patch 3.0 changes, I’ve also missed … let’s see … adding the Zhevra and the Brewfest Mounts, right? What else am I forgetting? What other mounts (besides those I mentioned above) are included in Patch 3.0 that I need to get added?

Yays! Welcome back~! I love all the awesome new information/work on Petopia too. Does this mean lovely Sporebats aren’t useless as hunter pets now?!
And as far as other new mounts go, there’s a Proto-drake in like, every color imaginable. I plan on getting the Violet Proto-drake from the “What a long, strange trip it’s been!” meta achievement next year. (Link: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?achievement=2145)
The Hallow’s End brooms have been changed this year to a single Broom item that changes depending on what riding skill you have (as does the Blizzcon Polar Bear, though he doesn’t fly like the Broom does I imagine). Also, the Headless Horseman will almost definitely be dropping his own steed (droprate unknown) this year, and it will work as a land mount when in Azeroth and a flying mount in Outland/Northrend. It will probably also change speeds depending on your riding skill.
The Black War Bear comes from defeating all of the opposing factions major city leaders achievement: For the Horde! or For the Alliance! (link: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?achievement=619)
The Black Proto-drake from completing the heroic 25-man Northrend raid meta achievement. (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?achievement=2138)
And the Plagued Proto-drake is from the normal 10-man Northrend raid meta achievement. (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?achievement=2137)
The Violet, Black, and Plagued Proto-drakes are all 310% speed mounts as well! As far as I know these 3 are the only ones to join the swift ranks of the Phoenix and Gladiator’s Netherdrakes.
mmo-champion also showed sample pictures of a Black Warpstalker ground mount a while back (it was the purple/green skin like the “new” tameable 71 elite), but it was flagged as a placeholder (no saddle/doo-dads). I haven’t heard or seen anything about it since.

Also, I believe there’s a new Headless Horseman dropped mount that looks like his horse and is permanent
There’s still the regular engineering helicopter flying mounts to be added: Flying Machine Control and Turbo-Charged Flying Machine Control. Also, the Hallow’s End Broom Stick has been changed to be a single item that scales depending on the player’s riding skill.

All of the new mounts are now in the Armory! They include some others have not mentioned and in more detail. Check there!
