PTR 2.4.3: Hallow’s End Mount

Headless Horseman's MountAs I type this, the Public Test Realm is currently down for another update. But I was able to get on briefly earlier this evening and found that Hallow’s End, the Halloween event, has been activated on the PTR.

And why is that exciting, you ask? Because apparently the Headless Horseman now drops the Headless Horseman’s Reins, which summons the Headless Horseman’s Mount. And yes, it’s a fast flying mount. And yet it only required Apprentice (75) Riding and level 60.

Yup — a level 60 mount that flies! That’s new! Of course, it may well change before Patch 2.4.3 makes it to the live realms. But we’ll definitely have to keep an eye on this one regardless.

  1. Ever since I saw that mount last year, I had wanted to obtain it. However, I’m hesitant about this one being a lv60 flier. Does this mean that it’s only usable in Outlands and cannot be ridden in the old world? It’s the regular/low speed?

Granted, this is the PTR, but these are questions instantly raised to my mind. I’d almost hope it were an epic land mount and not deal with the flying if it meant limiting this awesome mount only to Outlands.

  2. The tooltip I saw on a person who was riding one said 280% flying speed and 100% ground speed. The rumor on the PTR was that you could ride it (on the ground only) in Azeroth. However I didn’t see that myself — I only saw it flying in Shattrath. And Blizzard has now removed Hallow’s End from the PTR without comment, so … We’ll have to wait and see.

  3. I have only two words for this.

    DO WANT

…. though I hope like hell they don’t make it as rough to get as trying to down Ahune was. I’m sorry, but fighting a holiday boss (even on normal) should NOT require Kara/tier gear. :P

  4. You know, they could do this for more of the flying mounts — so maybe we would have to carry a flying mount for Outland and a ground mount for Azeroth.
    Yeah? Maybe?
Reguardless, I second that ‘DO WANT’.

  5. wouldn’t have to carry** *Coughs.*

  6. I wish they would just make the flying mounts work as GROUND mounts in azeroth. Netherdrake riding in azeroth? Yeeeah!

  7. Lol…it would be awesome for flying mounts to work as ground mounts in Azeroth…except for one problem. My WAR Hippogryph who is afraid of the ground ;p

The Headless Horseman’s mount is awesome though. I also wouldn’t mind giving this poor horse a home. ^-^
