PTR 2.4.3: More on Level 30 Mounts
I had a brief chance to get in game on the Public Test Realms today and find out a little bit more about the level 30 mounts.
Initially I thought that Blizzard might be adding new mounts at level 30, but I was misreading the patch notes. Instead, all of the mounts that previously had a level 40 requirement now have a level 30 requirement. The base price of the mounts is still 10 gold (but you may get reputation discounts), and they still require the Apprentice (75) level riding skill.
And learning to ride is now considerably cheaper: Riding trainers on the PTR will sell the Apprentice (75) riding skill to level 30+ characters for just 35 gold (base cost) instead of 90 gold (base cost). With a 20% Exalted discount, that means that learning to ride and buying your first mount could cost as little as 36 gold (28 gold for the skill + 8 gold for the mount).
On the other hand, you will have 10 fewer levels to reach Exalted reputation before you can buy your first mount. So that may raise the expense a bit. At worst, however, the cost for your first mount has been cut in half.
Do keep in mind, however, that right now these changes only exist on the Public Test Realm — and that they may change without notice before they reach the live realms.

I’m so excited about this news considering I have a few lower level alts on the go! I just hope enough people realize that if they’re nearing 40 they should hold off purchasing so they can take advantage of the discount when (if?) it makes it to live.

Well, I gues he yust whants it, because he has spend 100 Gold for his Mounts, so he wants everyone else to do so, too.
I on the other hand realy like this change, I´m just rerolling on another server, with no support of a Mainchar who just can farm this expense at dailys so this would realy buy me and others some time and I realy like to thank Blizz for that one =)
*sorry for my bad english, it´s not my native language ;)*

Wait, will Warlocks/pallidans be able to train their mounts at 30?

Wolfington: Yes, warlocks and paladins will both have access to their first class mounts at level 30.

Man, I’m 36 and I’ve still got 3/4 of the way through Revered to get to Org Exalted on my Tauren so I can get a wolf. Sorry folks, but with this leveling change, it’s now pretty-much been made official that they don’t want anyone to have their first mount anything but that of their own race, since if Exalted by 40 is hard enough, Exalted by 30 will be pretty-much impossible.

I think this is great - just because it means that that INCREDIBLY long run from Booty Bay through STV won’t be as tedious! Not to mention being able to escape from Stitches in Duskwood. Ugh, I always seemed to be having to outrun that guy.

I think it will just mean that those of us who want to collect a different mount will just end up knowing that you’ll just need to have an additional bank/bag space for that “until I get the mount I want” mount that you’ll get just to travel.

So they’re just doing this for 40 mounts? Why not60 mounts too? They could atleast lower the price on 60 mounts, because my alt is a 59 druid and idk how I’m gonna make enough money for my epic mount.. I better start doing dailies on my main.. =/

Happy with this change, which I think is long overdue (although I have just bought a mount for my level 40 druid alt, grr). My thought though is whether they will make any changes to druid travel form (cheetah obtained at 30),shaman wolf obtained at 20, and hunter aspect of the cheetah. The lowering of the mounts make these, and particularly the druid one which is obtained at the same level now, pretty obsolete. Yes, I still use my cheetah sometimes, becuase I like it, its an instant cast and can be cast in combat, but the change does devalue these spells. Maybe they could make them useable indoors (like the hunter aspect of the cheetah) to give them a little boost?
