I've been following this a little after the announcement about it. After being asked if a new bear mount would be put into WOTLK Tigole replied with Polar Bear sound cool?.

Although it could have been considered speculation, today Bornakk confirmed that a bear mount would be included by saying For players who are focused on romping around on a bear, there will be another one in Wrath of the Lich King. He jumps back into the thread later to reply to someone who asked what kind of bear. His answer was As Tigole put it, does a polar bear sound cool?

I'm excited! :)

Problem with that idea is that a level 70 could well go into ZA with a load of 80's and so still trivialize the event.

While I can understand their reasoning, what about those people who want to earn that mount but won't be able to reach max level before WotLK comes out? Not everyone has time to power level characters to 70 and start doing raid content. I think a better way would be to keep the bear mount available to those characters level 70 and below but, for those over 70, make the new item available.
