Patch 2.4 Mounts

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

As of today, Patch 2.4 is available on the live realms — and that means that three of the upcoming mounts are now available!

  • The Black War Elekk is a PvP mount available to all Alliance races for 30 Marks of Honor from each of Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, and Warsong Gulch.
  • Similarly, the Swift Warstrider is a PvP hawkstrider mount that can be bought by Horde for 30 Marks of Honor from each of Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, and Warsong Gulch. Unfortunately, the Swift Warstrider cannot be ridden by Tauren.
  • But Tauren — as well as Alliance! — do get a hawkstrider to ride … if they can defeat Kael’thas Sunstrider in the Heroic version of the new instance Magister’s Terrace and win his Swift White Hawkstrider.

The other two upcoming mounts (the X-51 Nether-Rocket and X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME) will not be available until Upper Deck launches the Servants of the Betrayer expansion pack for the WoW Trading Card Game — which should be pretty soon.

New PvP Mounts in PTR 2.4

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

The most recent update to the Public Test Realms for Patch 2.4 has brought with it great news for PvP mount collectors: a Black War Elekk and a Swift Warstrider. Finally, the poor neglected Draenei and Blood Elves will have their very own PvP mounts! And the rest of us will have an opportunity to ride an elekk or hawkstrider without faming up all that racial reputation.

Keep in mind that at this point these mounts are only available on the Public Test Realm, and that PTR information can (and does) change without notice. So while the chances are good that these mounts will be available when Patch 2.4 makes its way to the live realms, it may not happen. Or the new mounts may change their names, icons, allowable races, and even color … you just never know.
